4 Common Misconceptions About PLR Content

Recently, in an interview, I was asked this question:

“Can you explode any misconceptions that stop people from using PLR content?”

Here is my answer.

There are four main myths that I run into regularly.

1. The biggest misconception that people have is that all PLR is crap.

2. The second biggest misconception is that ghostwriters are not good writers. We can even take that a step further and add that people assume they are stupid, taken advantage of, and/or they don’t speak English as their native language.

3. The third misconception is that using PLR takes away from your expert status.

4. The fourth misconception is that PLR and ghostwriting are somehow dishonest.

Let’s run through those one by one.

Myth #1: All PLR is Crap.

If you go back to about 2003, then I’d say that you are absolutely correct. Nearly all PLR at that time was junk. There may have been a few exceptions, but I wouldn’t touch most of that PLR content with a 10-foot pole.

We’ve made great strides in the last few years to raise the standards for what is acceptable and what is not in the PLR world. I’d like to think that I was one of the leaders in that movement.

Myth #2: Ghostwriters are Stupid.

I’ve got to tell you that I’ve worked with some ghostwriters who are brilliant in many ways. Oftentimes, they’re fabulous communicators, smart marketers, and hard working entrepreneurs. And, yes, they’re qualified to write quality information on many topics on the internet.

For instance, for a long time, I had a nurse writing my health PLR articles. I’ve also got a writer who graduated from Stanford University, who writes for several popular print magazines, and is a published author. Yes, she has her own book. And, another who had a career as a Political Speech Writer (before having children). That’s just three of my writers. They’re all amazing people, each with a variety of skills and life experience.

To assume they aren’t capable of writing quality content would be just silly.

I don’t just go to eLance.com and take the lowest bidder. To think that’s how all PLR sites work would certainly be a misconception.

Myth #3: You’re Not a “Real” Expert if you Use PLR.

The other misconception is that using PLR articles takes away your own value as the expert. That you are somehow cheating, plagiarizing, or that you’re a phony if you use PLR.

If ONLY you could see my customer list. It reads like the “Who’s who of Successful Online Business Owners”.

Business is all about cutting costs while increasing the bottom line. What better example is there than PLR content?

If you use PLR articles as drafts, they are delivered to you, ready for you, as the expert, to add your unique thoughts to them.

If you look at PLR like that – you can still keep your personality in your brand – and your sanity at the same time.

Myth #4: Using Ghostwriters or PLR is Cheating.

Most biographies in the bookstores are written by ghostwriters.

Most of the famous orations from our history were written by someone other than the public figure who gave the speech.

It’s not cheating to get help. It’s smart business.

Nicole Dean is the owner of www.EasyPLR.com – where you’ll find high-quality PLR articles sold in very limited quantities. The PLR articles at EasyPLR are professionally written and professionally edited — top quality at an affordable price.

Most companies these days are having to layoff employees and make do with fewer key people, often increasing the workload of those still employed. This can result in those employees feeling under appreciated and resentful.

In todays economy, many companies are laying off employees. This leaves those still employed with more responsibility and often the sense of being under appreciated. The following is a case history from one of our promotional product vendors relating how one client company reached out to it’s employees and involved them in the process, alleviating the moral issues.

Case History:

“A major US manufacturer of engine parts that serviced the automobile industry faced significant layoffs after the industry collapsed in 2008. After downsizing, the company’s top performers were left to keep the business moving. With employee moral at an all time low the key managers put together teams by department to brainstorm ideas on cost saving initiatives, new product opportunities as well as new sales strategies. To launch the team’s brainstorming meetings the human resource department ordered the Gold Standard Bank with the theme: ‘We are banking on your ideas!’

The message let these employees know that their ideas were crucial to the company’s long term success and that management was open to listening to new ideas. This increased employee moral and engaged them into the process of creating new ideas and strategies.”

To order a sample of any of these products please send your order, additional questions, request for quotes or program opportunities to info@emgcoaching.com.

Most companies tend to pull back on their promotional marketing efforts in an economical downturn. However, that is probably the worst thing a company can do. Statistics have shown that those companies that continue to market and promote their brand through these difficult times, are the ones that survive it. Advertising and marketing doesn’t mean you have to spend a great deal of money. In fact promotional products are a great way to advertise your product, service or business and provide useful items at the same time.

Every seasoned guerrilla marketer knows the power of an inexpensive, branded item being used over and over again by a prospect. Some suggestions of popular, inexpensive promotional products for the benefit of a business are as follows:

1. T-Shirt Printing
Imagine the exposure your business will get with random people wearing shirts displaying your company’s logo. Everyone wants to belong to something. Providing t-shirts of your brand, product or service allows people to indicate theri affection for your product or brand. For roughly $5.00 a shirt, this can be easily done – not a bad return on your investment.

2. Water Bottles
Everywhere you go, you see them. In this eco-friendly world, more and more people are wanting to move away from the use of old plastic throw-away bottles and start using refillable eco-friendly water bottles. Companies are seeing this trend and starting to provide their customers water bottles that are re-usable but are branded with companies logo or message. Summer is the perfect time to launch a campaign like this.

3. Temporary Tattoos
Fun, hip, and cool. Some corporations hold events where they hire a tattoo artist who puts the company logos on the guests’ arms, wrist, shoulders or other visible parts of their bodies. It may only be temporary but at least these people know about the company. In fact, they can say they wore the company!

4. Stickers and Labels
Just like tattoo, companies invest in stickers and labels for people to spread the word about their business. Car magnets are a great way to advertise your brand as well. Think of hwo many eyeballs see your brand driving around town.

5. Mouse Pads
Darth Vader and Bart Simpson should not be the only ones gracing on mouse pads. Your company logo can do the same. At least with this promotional product, you will be sure that people get to see your company logo whenever they use their computers. In todays world of technology, this is a great product to use – inexpensive too!

6. Coffee Mugs
Imagine your company logo greeting your target customer every morning as he sips coffee.
Now that’s a smart move.

7. Pens and Pencils
Clearly the most popular promotional product businesses and companies resort to. Pens and pencils bearing company logos are everywhere simply because this is the most accessible. Hey, everybody uses pens and pencils.

8. Refrigerator Magnets
Just like coffee mugs, refrigerator magnets bearing the logo of the company will surely greet the target market a very good morning indeed. It will also greet the target market a very good evening when he grabs a midnight snack.

9. Balloons
Everyone loves color – one way to add this to your event and draw attention to it is to use balloons. These come in all shapes and sizes. Gieant inflatables can even be customized to represent your product.

Start using these inexpensive promotional products to keep your brand in front of people, and you will survive this weak economy. It is all about getting people to remember you and your product. If your brand name is constantly in front of them, you stand a better chance of making that sale down the road.

Visit Promotional Sales Group for further information.

Product: Website Traffic Bootcamp, by Dave Lovelace

Cost: $77 (for first 500 customers)

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

As most of my subscribers and customers will attest, I don’t just recommend any Internet marketing products to line my pockets.

It’s very important to me that I provide you with objective reviews so that you can truly make the best decision for you and for your business.

Sure, I do make money selling Internet marketing products as an affiliate. But… I will only endorse something and put my name behind it if I am completely confident that the product lives up to, and/or exceeds, its stated values.

So what does that mean to you? It means I review Internet marketing products before or after they are released to the public, and I share my honest opinion with my customers so they can make an informed decision.

When I was first asked to take a look at this site I was frankly a bit weary… because there are other traffic courses out there, surely this one couldn’t do anything different.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Website Traffic Bootcamp, in my opinion, really delivers on quality and content that I can actually use. Let me explain further..

What is it?

Website Traffic Bootcamp is a series of screen capture coaching videos offered by Dave Lovelace who has teamed up with marketing phenom Liz Tomey that are guaranteed to increase traffic to your website!

Pros:

The videos are in the popular flash format and are presented in a true coaching format. The training covers 12 traffic generation strategies that have proven to be the most affective.

I’ve seen many other traffic products on the market, but most are 99% powerpoint presentations and weak on actual “coaching”. Website Traffic Bootcamp over-delivers by actually being able to look over the expert’s shoulder as it happens.

Others also are filled with “101 ways” that are merely “ideas” and just a waste of time. But WTB gets right to the point. No filler. And the quality of teaching is extremely good.

I found it useful to be able to download a resource guide that provided me with easy links to the resources mentioned in the videos should I want to find out more info about them quickly.

Cons:

The videos are not viewable online. All are downloadable. I’m listing this under “cons” because I know that some people prefer this.

Personally, I prefer to download on my computer than see them online. When attempting to view online, videos sometimes stop working due to many others trying to watch them at the same time. I don’t have the patience for that.

Also, it takes some time to download everything. But so far, I haven’t had any problems. Dave has a great FAQ section at his support desk that covers most common issues. They’re very helpful. Dave is also great about getting back to you quickly. You don’t see that very often.

Comments:

The value versus price is spot on. I’ve seen recent courses of this nature for $197 that didn’t offer 1/2 the training that Dave is offering for a fraction of that! I’m extremely please with what I’ve received for the investment.

About the price. $77 is the launch price which is stated to increase after the first 500 customers. This will go up to $97. It was a no-brainer for me to grab my copy now.

Don’t know about you, but I’m all about saving money now by saying “maybe” and taking this course for a “spin”. I can always decide later if it lives up to it’s promise. And if it doesn’t, I get my investment back. But if it does (and this one has so far), then I’m a happy camper because I got mine at the lowest price

FYI: I particularly liked the Super-Charged Back Linking videos! I definitely had some “a-ha!” moments.

Recommended?: Yes

In conclusion if you have any type of product or you maket one via an affiliate program, or even if you’re trying to generate online, you’re going to get it done faster with this excellent training. And the investment is worth every penny. Plus, you get 60 days to test-drive every video. If you’re not convinced and don’t share my opinion, it’s easy to get your money back.

Check it out at…
WEBSITE TRAFFIC BOOTCAMP

I highly recommend it.

When cornered to present the three most important aspects of the attraction marketing formula there are three that definitely stand out. Ann Sieg is releasing her follow up to The Renegade Network Marketer in March and says it’s basically the missing chapter.

The best part for you is that it’s going to be available free. In it she gives some powerful examples and explanations about how to use attraction marketing in your business. There is little doubt the three points we are about to cover need to be implemented if you want to go from being just one of the herd to someone with a business of substance.

The problem we see is many will look at these three topics and dismiss them as standard practice but take a look at the marketing and promotions out there currently and it’s a sea of “buy, buy, buy.” They are not using them. That’s not what attraction marketing is and that type of promotion immediately puts people on the defensive.

There is a name for it and for want of a better description, it could be know as solicitation marketing. Here are the three must haves.

Your Marketing Method

One of the biggest mistakes we see people make is spreading themselves thin. You see it in everyday life and yes, I’ve been guilty of it too. That is, trying to be a “jack of all trades.” Trying to be all things to all people.

The truth is, the human psyche is not really designed to be able to focus on several things at one time and what this causes things like paralysis analysis. It puts you in a place where you’re wasting time on unimportant tasks and letting the important tasks go unattended.

As an internet network marketer, concentrate on one or two areas of marketing. Either be the article marketer, the blogging person, the web 2 expert but avoid trying to be seen as the expert in all facets of marketing.

Your Content And Message

Very important. Your message says a lot about you. If you are screaming in your marketing messages “sales pitch, sales pitch” then it may be time to re-think your strategy. If this is you then guess what…you are screaming the same message as 95% of internet network marketers.

Try to give value in your content. Forget the sales pitch for now. This is one of the keys to the attraction marketing blueprint. Give as much useful information away and watch the attraction process kick into gear.

Be Consistent In Your Business

Another biggie! Be consistent in what you do everyday. Try and do something on a daily basis that will move your business forward no matter how small it may be.

Those who succeed work on the principle of cause and effect. What they do today may not pay off the next day but it will pay off eventually. Can you imagine the kind of leverage and momentum you can get going when all the little things you do start paying off.

It will be like facing a 50 foot torrent coming at you when it finally breaks it’s banks. Be consistent. Don’t do something today and then wait a month. This won’t get you results. The attraction marketing formula is a pretty simple one when broken down into chunks.

Don’t forget to grab Ann Sieg’s new blueprint The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto. It’s free but packs another great punch and will teach you attraction marketing inside out.

Advertising is an essential part of your overall marketing. Without reaching out to new customers you are limiting your potential market. The best marketing is creative and innovative – something that will make your customers remember your name and, thus, think of you again when they require your products or services, without breaking the bank. That is the beauty behind Guerrilla Marketing. Also, as you might expect, advertising is expensive. You have to be absolutely sure that you will get a return on your investment (ROI) from the advertising you are paying for, or at least that some objectives are being met. Looking at alternative ways to advertise and being creative can save you a lot of money.

1. Newspaper Advertising

One of the most inexpensive forms of advertising is an ad in the local paper. With even a small advertisement, you can reach a large number of people. If the paper caters to a particular geographic region you can further target your advertising just to that region. The larger the ad, the more expensive it becomes. Most people respond to a small colurful ad rather than a full-page black and white ad.

2. Mailbox Stuffing

By investing in newspaper advertising or television advertising one must assume that the advertisement only reaches a segment of the total population. After all, not everyone watches television or reads the paper. To get the largest slice of the pie that you can, go directly to your population and fill their mailboxes with your advertisements or offers.

3. Offer Brochures

A brochure can explain much more about your company, products or services than a single newspaper ad. If your customers need detailed information in order to choose your business over your competition, consider using a brochure. It’s good to have brochures handy at trade shows or stocked at the reception desk of your business. See EMG Design services for more information.

4. Yellow Pages

Still one of the oldest ways of finding businesses is the yellow page directory. Every person with a telephone has a copy of their local phone book with business Yellow Pages. Directories are one of the most widely used forms of advertising. The telephone company advertising staff will give you help in designing an ad that will present your business in an effective manner. Be aware that directories are published at various times of the year. Call the phone company to determine the publication deadlines. A home-based business may wish to omit the address from the ad. Phone calls can be screened and clients can be scheduled so the neighborhood is not disrupted by an increased flow of traffic.

5. Business Cards

Another inexpensive way to communicate with your customers are business cards. Always keep a few handy to give out during shows, at meetings, and after a job well done. Think of it as a miniature billboard for your business. It needs to contain essential information such as the name of your business, your name, and essential contact information such as, at the very minimum, your address and phone number. Many people like to add a slogan or logo to their card as well.

6. Promotional Giveaways

Pens, keychains, balloons, t-shirts, you name it. These are marketing materials that fall under this category. Usually inexpensive promotional gimmicks, most people find that useful items like pens are more effective than items with no purpose other than to carry your logo (ex. balloons). Visit Promotional Sales Group for further information.
